Here is a pdf of the presentation I made to the project's 24-month EPSRC meeting in Reading which took place yesterday. The slides overview previous perceptual experiment results, and outline some factors motivating future experiments.

Software Carpentry for Audio and Music Researchers

news item posted 8 Nov 2010

I've just returned from the UK Autumn School for Software Carpentry for Audio and Music Researchers, soundsoftware.ac.uk. The week-long workshop was lead by Greg Wilson from Software Carpentry. Many thanks to the course leader and to the organisers - I've learned techniques both to speed up what I currently do, and to make new kinds of work possible. And it was pretty inspiring to meet the other twenty or so participants!

BSA 2010

news item posted 20 Sep 2010

We presented posters detailing recent experimental work on human hearing, and a study combining our computer model of perceptual compensation for reverberation with automatic speech recognition (ASR) software at the British Society of Audiology's Annual Conference in Manchester earlier this month. The posters are available to download for the psychoacoustic experiments and for the ASR study.

Sheffield week

news item posted 19 February 2010

We've been hosting Simon Makin at the spandh lab this week. Alongside giving a talk to the group "Spectral- and temporal-envelope room-acoustic cues in attentional tracking", the visit also allowed us to plan the next sir-stir modelling direction, and to begin the sir-skur-spur-stir listening pilot test.
