Abstract.

To allow the curriculum for Software Engineering courses to change as rapidly as is needed in order to match developments within the subject, a framework has been constructed to provide consistent objectives and structure for the curriculum, and hence to enable the change to be managed in a controlled fashion. The framework is structured hierarchically, with the major components of the hierarchy being the products and processes of software engineering, and the relationship of software engineering to people. The elements of this hierarchy are described in detail and justified, and their implications for the curriculum discussed.
