I am a researcher at the University of Sheffield and a member of Speech and Hearing and the Sheffield Center for Robotics. I am currently working on the EPSRC Natural Speech Technology Programme Grant in collaboration with Cambridge and Edinburgh universities, the NHS, BBC, GCHQ, Microsoft and Nuance. I am also a member of the USTAR consortium which provided speech-to-speech translation for visitors to the 2012 Olympics and continues to operate its phone-based service. I previously studied Computer Science at Cambridge and Informatics at Edinburgh; spent two years in London working on automated prediction, trading and valuation for hedge funds Algometrics and Vantage; completed my DPhil at the Pattern Analysis Research Group in Oxford; and worked on computational neuroscience and robotics in the Sheffield Adaptive Behaviour Research Group.
