£2.5m University project for River Don floodplain in South Yorkshire
The University of Sheffield has been awarded funding for URSULA: Urban River Corridors and Sustainable Living Agendas, by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to look at the redevelopment of the River Don floodplain in South Yorkshire. URSULA aims to create a place where people can live and work safely, now and in the future. The green light for the project has been welcomed by the Environment Agency as "great news", providing a substantial body of research which will "make a vital contribution to learning from the recent flooding events". The Chronicle of Froissart
January-June 2008, Oriental Gallery at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds, UK. Free to the public, displays six illuminated medieval manuscript books, each containing a version of the Chronicles of Jehan Froissart (1337-1404), and all copied and decorated in Paris ca. 1408-1415. The exhibition also contains the work realised under the project: My Exhibition - Designing for Affective Communication, Personalisation and Social Experience.
