Hi, I’m Jack
I’m a PhD student at The University of Sheffield in the Speech and Hearing group.
Under the supervision of Prof. Jon Barker my research involves investigating ways in which video information can be used to improve speech enhancement and automatic speech recognition. In particular, I have an interest in multi-channel speech enhancement for distant speech recognition.
I enjoy learning about all things Computer Science! When I’m not studying, I enjoy going for walks, climbing, taking photos and supporting my football team Chelsea.
My research
- Simulating realistically-spatialised simultaneous speech using video-driven speaker detection and the CHiME-5 dataset. Interspeech (2020)
- Using Video Information to Improve Automatic Speech Recognition in the Distant Microphone Scenario. UK Speech Poster (2019)
- PCA And Competitive Learning (2017)
- Sound Event Detection in Real Life Audio (2017)
