I have recently been awarded a PhD degree in the Computer Graphics Research Group at the Department of Computer Science, the University of Sheffield. My PhD supervisor was Dr. Steve Maddock. My PhD dealt with the ability to model entire planets based on procedural fractal models. A copy of my PhD thesis can be downloaded from one of the two links below. The first link contains compressed images. The second link takes longer to download but contains the original images shown in the thesis.
I am currently a software engineer at Lightworks, in Sheffield, where I am helping in the development of a modern photorealistic renderer that features interactive progressive rendering, multi-threadedness and use of GPU computing. At the same time, I remain a research collaborator with the Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield, in association with my former PhD supervisor, Dr. Steve Maddock.

This section details research I have published after finishing my PhD. By Post-doctoral research, I mean research done after my PhD and not the enrolment in any formal Post-Doc programme. At the moment, only one paper has been published but I hope that more will be added here with time.
The following topics correspond to aspects of my research on procedural planetary models that were published after I joined the Graphics Research Group at Sheffield. Most of these topics gave origin to different chapters in my PhD thesis.
This is research done before coming to Sheffield University. Much of this research was done at ADETTI, a R&D institute that is part of the ISCTE university in Lisbon, Portugal. My first research works, including my Master thesis, was done at INESC, another R&D institute in Lisbon.
As a parting shot, I leave here my CV in a reasonably updated state. Should you wish to contact me, I am available at the addresses "mag at dcs.shef.ac.uk" or "mgmt69 at yahoo.com".
