Following the ESCA workshop, and as mentioned during the meeting, we would like to encourage all the attendees who presented papers at the workshop to submit extended and revised version of their paper for a special issue of speech communication. All the attendees who did not submit papers are also encouraged to submit original work for topics covered at the workshop. Depending on the quality of the papers and the number of papers submitted we may also consider another form of publication. To be considered five copies of the papers should be sent to my attention at Speech Technology Laboratory before September 1st 1997. All the papers will follow the normal review process of speech communication and will be reviewed by experts in the field. The reviewers will decide if a paper should be published or rejected. We expect to be able to publish the special issue in the third quarter or the end of 1998. Each submission should follow the guidelines of the speech communication journal.
