I am
a Research Associate in the Speech and Hearing research group of the
Department of Computer Science at the University of Sheffield.
Current Research Projects:
I am working as an RA on the REdRESS
project. The
project's aim is to develop a medical speaking aid for laryngectomy
patients. A follow-up
project with the acronym "Disarm" has recently won funding by the NHS.
Previous Research:
From
May 2006 to January 2011, I conducted my PhD research here in
Sheffield. My topic was the development, construction and evaluation of
a biomimetic speaking robot: "AnTon".
In 2010, I was an RA on the SERA
project about human-robot interaction in the home. Specifically, I was
involved in verification, testing and calibration of speech
segmentation software and recording hardware.
In
2009, I worked as an RA on a model of
sensorimotor control of speech
production, within the framework of the ACORNS project.
From October 2004 to March 2006, I worked for the Space Research
Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Graz, Austria. I
was responsible for the data analysis of acoustic and electric field
measurements carried out by the Huygens planetary probe that landed on
Saturn's moon Titan in January 2005.
I
completed a degree in electrical/sound engineering in
January 2006 at the University of Technology in Graz, Austria
(with distinction). The formal title of the degree is
"Diplom-Ingenieur", which is equivalent to a Master of Science/Engineering.
