The binaural processor developed by Lindemann (JASA 80, 1986) and Gaik (JASA 94(1), 1993) is based on a running interaural cross-correlation. The cross-correlation is realized for each of the frequency bands so that the signals from the left and the right ear move in opposite directions along two decay lines and are multiplied at each tap. Additional connections in between the two delay lines implement a special inhibition mechanism, which is depicted in the figure below.
