My research focuses on the use of Social Media for Emergency Response, wioth a particular interest for how users interact with Social Media and which visualisation techniques can be applied to facilitate the interaction. I am currently the coordinator of the Randms Project (project funded by EPSRC on the usage of social media for national security) and I was coordinator of the TRIDS Project (Tracking Real-time Intelligent Data Streams, a project funded by UK/SBRI/Instinct on the usage of social media for national security) and of the WeKnowIt European Project (http://www.weknowit.eu) for Sheffield activity.
