• propose a semi-autogenerated documentation of installed software, e.g. by replacing readmes with index.html files in src
• Move fast-wide stanage disks to derwent - upgrade stanage to Sol7

• get ACS-Oracle to talk through the firewall from gate to derwent

• [Oct 00] latex package upgraded by Dave A, links changed to follow on belch
• [Oct 00] Epson Photo 870 printer added to glossop for Rob
• [Oct 00] RedHat linux installed on Rob's laptop
• [Oct 00] Java upgraded to 1.3 on derwent including kernel patch kit.
• [Aug 00] new HP JetAdmin software to drive ILASH printer. All printers converted to new s/w. More spool space made on belch by taking over the old amanda logs area.

• [May 00] entire amanda backup system moved to stanage. Now server, holding disk and two tape drives are all on the same machine. Should speed things up a bit - but may need to get stanage on 100Mbit line.

Disks and directories

1. (/share)/nlp/src: all the installed software we support for SunOS
2. /usr/local: all the installed software we support for Solaris (from 2.6; 2.5 to be phased out)
3. /nlp/projects: project space
4. /home/...: group members' home directories
5. /nlp/data: stuff like corpora and dictionaries (the ones that don't come with their own software)
6. /nlp/anon_ftp: our ftp site
7. /nlp/public: contains group web pages (and some stuff that is out-of-date (e.g. tools, dictionaries) and needs reinstalling elsewhere and then deleting)
