COM4509/6509: Machine Learning and Adaptive Intelligence Python Install
Page Redirection If you are not redirected automatically, follow the Software Center application, by clicking on the desktop icon
  • Select "Installation Status" on the top left, to see a list of the available applications. If the window is empty, quit the application and start it again (it can take a few tries to work, particularly if you've just logged in)
  • Type python into the search box, on the top right
    • this should reduce the list to include the anaconda python distribution.
    • if you're right that Python is not yet installed, it will say "Available" in the STATUS column
      (if the STATUS column says "Installed", the Python is already installed on this machine)
  • Next click the "INSTALL" button, on the bottom right
    • installation usually takes 2-5 minutes
  • Once installation has finished, Python is ready to use immediately. You can click on the Start button and search for "ipython", the notebook should come up in internet explorer. You can also install Firefox and use the notebook though firefox.
